Read Glimpse Quarterly
Glimpse Quarterly is an international news, travel and culture magazine that features compelling narratives written by youth living abroad, on themes ranging from quarry divers in France to taxicabs in Kyrgyzstan to genocide in Central Africa. With depth, breadth and intimacy, we tackle the international issues that no one talks about and delve into the daily cultural realities that no one sees. Check with your study abroad advisor to see if your Office of International Programs carries Glimpse; if not, encourage your office to consider becoming a Glimpse Institutional Member.

Contribute to Glimpse
Anyone who is living abroad can write for Glimpse. Study abroad students comprise the bulk of our correspondent base, serving as a roving band of “reporters” who provide Glimpse readers with in-depth insights into the daily cultural, political and social realities of life abroad. Approximately one quarter of Glimpse articles are republished in major newspapers and magazines.

Accepted submissions to Glimpse are published online first; a select few are included in Glimpse Quarterly. We occasionally solicit articles on a certain theme or from a certain region for our print issues. By registering in our Contributor Database you can be assured that you will be kept up to date on any current article solicitations for Glimpse Quarterly.

You do not have to consider yourself a “writer” to contribute to Glimpse. The Glimpse editorial staff undergoes a personal, intensive revision process with each and every contributor, teaching those with all levels of writing experience the basic tenets of compelling creative nonfiction. While not all submissions are ultimately accepted, all contributors are given a chance to work collaboratively with an editorial staff member to revise or refocus their submissions.

Educators

Glimpse serves international educators by offering compelling resources to assist students in all phases of the study abroad process. Glimpse content has been consistently praised for having high student appeal while at the same time tackling substantive themes that are rarely addressed by other websites and magazines geared toward the study abroad market. Glimpse strives to work with international educators so that we can help one other more effectively pursue our very similar missions.

Recruit Glimpse contributors
Glimpse seeks to publish student material from the broadest possible range of colleges and universities, and we rely on international educators to help us spread the word about our contribution opportunities. Currently we partner with over 800 study abroad offices across the country, who agree that Glimpse is a valuable outlet to help students reflect on their experiences and share them with a national audience.

We encourage students from all areas of study to contribute to Glimpse, and we help those with less writing experience by undertaking an intensive, collaborative revision process with each and every contributor. Though not all submissions are ultimately accepted, we always offer students the chance to revise and encourage them to resubmit in the future. Students continually remark that writing for Glimpse helps them to sort out and reflect upon the overwhelming cultural experiences they confront while abroad. Glimpse also offers annual writing and photo essay contests designed to encourage students to reflect on a certain aspect of their abroad experiences.

Testimonials
Overall, Glimpse Quarterly is superb! The quality and diversity of writing is excellent, and the art direction is outstanding throughout. Thanks for continuing this great initiative!
- Kristen Michelson, Study Abroad Coordinator, Marquette University

Glimpse Quarterly proved to be much higher quality than I had imagined. I had thought it might consist mainly of travel accounts, but it seems to dig into significant issues. Bravo!
- Chip Peterson, Assistant Director of Study Abroad, University of Minnesota

I enjoyed the entire magazine ... so very interesting and offers that "glimpse" into a student's study abroad experience, making it seem very real to those students who may be interested but yet are skeptical of taking that first step. Your current list of membership benefits covers a nice variety of benefits and accomplishes your goal (and this office's) very nicely. Great publication ... very well done.
- Tonya Veltrop, Director of Study Abroad, Westminster College

Each week I refer students to your website. The fact that it is done for and by students with wide-ranging interests and experiences in the larger world provides our current crop of study abroad students with valuable mentorship.
- Kirstin Moritz, Former Director of International Programs, Brown University

Frankly, I've found that the tendency is for student mags to revolve around the lower common denominators of student life - "study abroad" means spring break on a beach in the Bahamas, etc. You appear to be pitching to a higher level, and for that I applaud your efforts. I think your website will be of interest to our students.
- John Sunnyguard, Director of Study Abroad, University of Texas at Austin

I wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the format, content and outreach that you've accomplished. I think Glimpse really fills a unique niche that has been lacking in the study abroad community by giving a voice to the people that study abroad impacts the most. I firmly believe that it is through these personal stories that more and more people will be exposed to broader issues and more open-minded perspectives about the world. I commend you and your colleagues for your work! It's inspiring to see what a few people can do when they put their minds together.
- Jenika Doctor, student, George Washington University

Thanks for providing such a wealth of information based on students' travel experiences. What a wonderful idea - I enjoy the website very much!
