Glimpse Wire Offers Automatic Integration of Young Adult Travel Narratives into Partner Websites

WASHINGTON, DC (July 24, 2007) -- The Glimpse Foundation is pleased to announce the Glimpse Wire, a new service for websites related to travel, cultural exchange, international news and/or college/young adult markets. The Glimpse Wire feeds personal cultural-experience narratives from GlimpseAbroad.org directly to participating websites, based on criteria that they select.

GlimpseAbroad.org features over 500 stories written by study abroad students and international volunteers about cross-cultural experiences had while abroad. New stories are added weekly. Relying on narrative story lines and rich sensory detail, these articles capture readers' attention and concern by making the world personal.

Says Allan Chernoff, Senior Correspondent for CNN, "With Glimpse you get personal perspectives on international life and events that you simply cannot find elsewhere. Instead of high-fallutin officials telling you the news, they have people on the ground living it and what could be better than that?" Keith Bellows, Editor in Chief of National Geographic Traveler, calls Glimpse stories "heartfelt, honest, refreshingly young and explorative, reveal[ing] places with a distinctive voice that is important to anyone curious about the world."

Websites interested in featuring Glimpse content can limit their feeds to particular regions, countries, themes and/or keywords. Feeds can even be limited to specific colleges attended by the authors. At present, GlimpseAbroad.org features stories from almost 100 countries; themes include culture shock, race and identity, politics, health, education, work abroad, religion and language learning, among others.

The Glimpse Wire will automatically update Glimpse content on participating websites and will include either article summaries, with links back to GlimpseAbroad.org, or the full versions of all relevant stories. Article-summary feeds are available at no charge; prices for full-article feeds range from $49 to $495 per year, depending on the selected filters.

GlimpseAbroad.org represents an online community of young adults devoted to cross-cultural learning and exchange. In addition to its database of hundreds of cultural narratives, GlimpseAbroad.org offers blogging services, forums and other interactive features to help young adults network with their peers who are living overseas. GlimpseAbroad.org is a project of the Glimpse Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that fosters cross-cultural understanding and exchange, particularly between the United States and the rest of the world, by providing forums for sharing the experiences of young adults living and studying abroad.
